Karen Pickell — Founder and Editor-in-Chief

Karen has served on the board of directors of the Georgia Writers Association, as associate editor of the literary journal Flycatcher, and as an editor of the blog Lost Daughters. Prior to those endeavors, she worked in information technology at a large corporation and, before that, as a clerk in a public library. She holds a MA in professional writing from Kennesaw State University and a BS in computer science from Baldwin-Wallace University. Her book editing credits include Georgia Poetry Society’s 2014 anthology, The Reach of Song. Her writing has appeared in several independently published anthologies and at online literary spaces including Brevity’s Nonfiction Blog, Bluestem Online Quarterly, and Conte. In 2015, she launched the website Adoptee Reading, a catalog of books written and recommended by adult adoptees. She has drafted a memoir that is marinating for now while she works on a second book that will serve as the first project for Raised Voice Press.

John Pickell — Business Manager

John recently retired from a long career in corporate credit and finance, in which he evolved from cost accountant to director of credit. In addition, he has previously owned a small property renovation company and a hair salon, and he has advised numerous small business owners on how to steady their financial footing. He has graciously volunteered to help Raised Voice Press with all matters involving numbers and accounting.
